To support our Shipmanagement at the next possible time, we are looking for a Cadet Development Manager (m/f/d).

Have you sailed yourself and are now looking for a meaningful shore-based role? Are you passionate about developing young seafarers and helping them to take their first steps towards becoming officers? We are looking for a Cadet Development Manager (m/f/d) to support the development of our cadet pipeline and guide cadets from recruitment through their academy phase, first sea assignments and transition into junior officer roles.  


The role is about looking beyond certificates and grades. You will combine information from recruitment, academy performance, onboard feedback, motivation and training needs to support fair decisions and individual development. 

Your responsibilities 

In this role, you will help ensure that cadet recruitment, development and follow-up are based on clear expectations, reliable information and close cooperation with academies, manning agencies and internal stakeholders. 

Your main tasks will include: 
  • Support the recruitment,selection, onboarding and development of cadets and entry level officers, including regular follow-up on individual progress, feedback, trainingneedsand development measures
  • Act as a trusted contact for cadets throughout their development journey and provide additional guidance where needed, including support for female cadets as part of a more diverse officer pipeline
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with maritime academies, manning agencies, shipboard mentors and internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our cadet programme, onboarding process and development framework
  • Support other Crew Development activities and projects whenever required, for example training initiatives, reporting, process improvements or internal coordination tasks

Your profile

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people, understands seafaring and communicates clearly and proactively.  

You bring:
  • Seagoing experience, ideally as a nautical or technical officer, with a good understanding of cadet training, watchkeeping, onboard routines and life at sea
  • Strong communication skills, intercultural awareness and the ability to build trust, provide guidance and follow up on several development cases in a structured way
  • Experience in training, mentoring, crewing, recruitment or cadet development would be helpful, but not mandatory 
  • Fluent written and spoken business English
  • German is an advantage
